Overall I would say this project went fairly well, the group that I was put in was very organised and there was no problem with group members getting their work done on time, whenever there was a task given to a group member they would always produce that work for the next meeting. The designs that I made during this project were in my opinion simple, strong and each one puts across the message that I wanted them to, the way I got to my subject of student tuition fees was when I just started looking at matters that effected students and this was the one that I wanted to do the most.
The problems that we encountered in this project I wouldn’t say really came from group members, rather it came from things like the printing paper that we wanted to use, we wanted our magazine to look like it was made with the cheapest method available so we wanted to use some recycled paper hoping that it would look like a newspaper or something like that, it didn’t work out that way though, when we looked at recycled paper it wasn’t how we wanted it to be, it was only when we went to print that we found a paper that was exactly what we were looking for, which was layout 50gsm. The whole process of getting the paper was a struggle, we got the recycled paper but it was very white and does not really look any different to standard paper. There was no other way for us to give the impression of cheaply made as this is what we want to portray.
the options that we considered were; the tracing paper was too thick and was actually quite good quality so it wasn’t really doing what we wanted it to do, as we wanted it to look cheap.
News print, which was unable to print because it needed lithograph printers that we didn’t have access to and would have taken too long to do.
Greaseproof style paper, this didn’t work as the ink showed through too much.
Recycled paper, also didn’t work because it is high quality now due to today's technology and does not give the required effect of being cheap.

So we went in the paper shop as discussed to see if there was any other option to the 4 paper options that had failed us.... we left with 3 that could possibly work.
Layout Paper which was the preferred option, we needed to test this to see if it will run through the printer as it is only 50gsm.
Sugar Paper, this doesn't really give required effect of being cheap but would possibly be better than standard paper.

If I was to do this project again there isn’t much that I would change, for example the biggest thing that I would change is the typeface, I would have explored a lot more fonts and seen what would work the best with what I was trying to do. The communication in the group was really good, we all looked at each others work and said what changes needed to be made if any at all, to help blend everything in when the magazine was brought together, so there I would have looked a lot more into what everyone else was doing while I was still in the initial idea stages, as I looked at theirs when I was in the development stages and had to scrap a few ideas.
